Fiddlesticks Farm is a family-owned farm just outside Midland that transforms every fall into one of the best family destinations in West Texas.
Run by the Norton family, it’s been a fall tradition here for years, built around a sprawling cornfield maze, a massive pumpkin patch, and more than 25 attractions spread across the property. It’s the kind of place where you plan to stay for an hour and end up staying for the whole afternoon.
The farm sits at 5610 E. County Road 120 in Midland, and this year, Fiddlesticks opens for the season on September 26th! So, it’s the perfect time to start planning your visit and marking the calendar.
Things to Do at Fiddlesticks Farm
Fiddlesticks packs a lot into its acreage, so there’s something for every age. Here’s what you can look forward to:
The Cornfield Maze
The centerpiece of the farm is its 7-acre cornfield maze, redesigned every single year so returning visitors always get a fresh challenge. The main phase can take up to 30-45 minutes to work through, and if you get turned around, “Corn Cops” are scattered throughout to help point you in the right direction (though they won’t actually walk you out, and they don’t accept tips!). For families with younger kids, there’s also a shorter Fairy Tale Trail section with storyboards along the path, so even the littlest maze-goers can join in on the fun without the full 45-minute trek. It’s a great way to let older kids tackle the big maze while younger ones have their own version of the adventure.
The Pumpkin Patch
Fiddlesticks grows 15 different varieties of pumpkins across a full 10 acres, so you’re guaranteed to find “the one.” From classic Jack-o’-Lanterns perfect for carving to Cinderellas, Jaharradales, and a rainbow of mini pumpkins in white, orange, green, and yellow, there’s a pumpkin for every porch and every kid’s imagination. You’ll load your pumpkin picks into a wagon and take a hayride back to the front of the farm, which is honestly half the fun. Even if you don’t find your perfect pumpkin in the patch, there’s always the pumpkin pile as backup.
Farm Animals & the Learning Barn
Head over to the Learning Barn to meet the farm’s animal families—cows and calves, goats, sheep and lambs, chickens, pigs, and ducks all call Fiddlesticks home. It’s a hands-on, up-close experience that city life doesn’t always offer. Don’t miss the live milking demonstrations in the Milking Parlor, held every couple of hours on Saturdays and Sundays, or the always-popular Chick Hatchery where you can watch baby chicks hatch in real time. Pig races typically follow the milking demos, too, if you want a little friendly farmyard competition.
Campfires
One of the best parts of a fall evening at Fiddlesticks is settling in around a campfire. The farm sets you up with a picnic table and gets the fire started for you. All you bring is the marshmallows, hot dogs, and good company. It’s simple, it’s cozy, and it’s exactly the kind of tradition that makes fall in West Texas feel special. Campsites tend to fill up fast, especially on weekends, so it’s worth reserving ahead of time if a campfire evening is on your must-do list.

Beyond the maze, pumpkins, and animals, Fiddlesticks has more than 25 additional attractions scattered across the property—think apple blasters, a corn cannon, gem mining at the Miners Shack, a pick-your-own flower patch when things are in bloom, and plenty of photo-worthy spots for your fall family pictures. There’s genuinely enough here to fill an entire day. Hungry after all that exploring? The Feed Lot serves up classic fair-style farm food, and the Country Store is stocked with farm-fresh goodies and souvenirs to take a little bit of Fiddlesticks home with you.
*Since the farm typically operates on weekends only (Saturdays and Sundays) once it opens, we’d recommend planning your visit in advance, especially during the popular October weeks when the maze and pumpkin patch see the biggest crowds.
